JerseyLaw.ai was built on a simple premise: access to the law should not depend on access to an expensive subscription service. Every New Jersey statute, regulation, court rule, and published judicial opinion is public record — yet for decades, finding and searching that record required costly proprietary databases accessible only to law firms and institutions.
JerseyLaw.ai makes a searchable collection of legal materials available to attorneys, law students, paralegals, journalists, self-represented litigants, and curious citizens alike. It also publishes original research guidance that explains how to verify a proposition against its current primary source.
The collection includes selected opinions from the New Jersey Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Superior Court divisions, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. It also includes unpublished Appellate Division opinions, which have citation limitations under New Jersey Court Rule 1:36-3.
Statutory coverage includes all 68 titles of the New Jersey Statutes Annotated (NJSA). Regulatory coverage includes all 28 titles of the New Jersey Administrative Code (NJAC). We also provide the New Jersey Court Rules, the New Jersey Constitution, and the United States Constitution.
We use scheduled ingestion runs and CourtListener, a Free Law Project service, to check for available opinions. Source availability and processing can vary, so always confirm the official court or agency text before relying on a result.
Statutes and regulations are checked against selected New Jersey government sources. The site is a research aid, not an official codification or reporter, and a convenient database copy is not automatically the final verification source.
JerseyLaw.ai offers two complementary search modes. Boolean Search gives you precise, syntax-driven control using AND, OR, NOT operators and phrase matching — the same logic used by professional legal research platforms. It is ideal for experienced researchers who know exactly what they are looking for.
AI Search lets you ask questions in plain English and receive a synthesized answer drawn directly from the legal documents in our library, with citations. It is designed for users who are unfamiliar with legal terminology or who want a quick orientation to a legal topic before diving deeper.
